Hei Tiki in jade mounted on a marine ivory anchor. Very beau - Lot 244
Hei Tiki in jade mounted on a marine ivory anchor. Very beautiful realization of a maori artist of the south of the island of New Zealand for the hei tiki. The work on the anchor was certainly done by a sailor in the early twentieth century on the boats sailing in the Pacific Islands. According to the second to last collector who owns this pendant (a hinged ring allows the passage of a chain or lace) was given to him by his grandfather who would have obtained it from a sailor who was on the Korrigane.Whatever the case, the patina of the anchor is old. This jewel is rare and exceptional. The tiki represents the ancestors. This jewel has a mana of luck. The mouth is the symbol of communication, the head of thought, the heart of love and fertility and the hands of power and strength.
