book, by René-Charles PLANCKE - Amatteis éditions 1993 - 24 x 16 cm. "BRIE-COMTE-ROBERT ET LE VAL d' YERRES A LA BELLE EPOQUE" (BRIE-COMTE-ROBERT AND THE VAL d' YERRES AT THE BEAUTIFUL TIME) A handsome 352-page book, offering a wealth of walks through the past of this Brie region. A very complete local history book on the town, of course, but filled with a host of little details such as the price of travel, the number of inhabitants, the price of lunches in restaurants... a sort of tourist guide back in time for the town and all its surrounding hamlets. A richly textual work by a particularly erudite author-lecturer on his region, perfectly illustrated with numerous period photos and old postcards; in-text cartography. Alphabetical index of villages at the end of the book.
