1904 - MILITARIA " L' ARMEE / LA PRESSE - 32 mm bronze medal, with clasp, from JOURNAL LE MATIN ( *) - France standing on a shield carried by a soldier and the Republic wearing the Phrygian cap - on reverse: LE MATIN organizes the army march May 29, 1904. Center: cannon, breastplate, bundle of rifles, wagons. - 20.99 grams.
( * ) LE MATIN - One of the 4 leading daily newspapers of the period, with a circulation of around 500,000 (one million in 1914). Organized a major patriotic demonstration on May 29, 1904, to prove that our army was well prepared for war, particularly against Germany. Many servicemen took part with their equipment. The march lasted all day, with a big party at the Trocadéro in the evening. Numerous gifts were distributed by the newspaper to participants on this day, including this medal.
