1818 - MEDAL of the "COURTIERS de COMMERCE de la ville de PARIS, HOMMAGE à " A.S.E. MGr LE COMTE ANGLES ( * ) / MINISTRE D'ETAT : PREFET de POLICE ". - Obverse: Mercury holding a caduceus and a purse, seated on a parcel, ship's prow in the background, to the right a crowing cock; in the exergue: M.D.XVIII, signature of medal maker Galle. Bronze - 41 mm - 40 grams. ( * ) Jules Jean Baptiste Anglès : born in GRENOBLE on July 29, 1778, died at Château de Cornillon in Mably / Loire - Intendant in Silesia (1806), in 1814 Minister of Police during the 1st Restoration; he followed Louis XVIII to Ghent during the Hundred Days. Elected deputy for Hautes Alpes on August 22, 1815. Appointed Prefect of Police of Paris on September 29, 1815, a post he left on December 18, 1821 to retire to Mably, where he was elected Mayor.
