( * ) The most important support vessel of the French Navy, the multi-purpose Navy workshop ship. Commissioned in 1976, retired in 2009. Mainly based in Djibouti, assigned to the French Indian Ocean fleet, took part in numerous missions, including maritime control operations following Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. It appears on the Djibouti 10,000 franc banknote and on a stamp for the French Southern & Antarctic Territories.
