FRANCE - AVIATION - PLANE CRASH, MAIL RECOVERED. On March 14, 1947, the AIR FRANCE DC 3 F-BAXO DAKOTA took off from NICE at 1pm with 18 passengers and 5 crew members for Lyon. Over the Vercors mountains, 35km from Grenoble, in the middle of a snowstorm, the plane exploded against the mountain at an altitude of 2,100 meters. The damaged mail is recovered and forwarded with a glued notice. > Correspondence with duplicator label with text in a dotted frame; label stuck on the document by the postal authority: "correspondence recovered on 5.5.47 at the scene of the crash of the "DAKOTA" plane which crashed near Monastier de Clermont (Isère) on 14.3.47.".
