World War 2 - FREE POLISH FORCES IN EXILE IN LONDON. Commemorative postcard, 1944 issue, from the Association of Polish Philatelists in Great Britain, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first Polish stamp 1919-1944. Postage due English 1 penny red stamp bearing the effigy of King George VI, large commemorative cancel. Patriotic illustration on the left: "The warm reception of the Hun in LWOW", then a Polish town, now LVIV in the Ukraine, conquered after fierce fighting by the Nazis in September 1939. The illustration shows a destroyed Panzer tank amid the ruins of the town.
