large award medal, Vermeil class, in GOLDEN SILVER. - 45 mm - 46 grams.
Obverse: by Alexandre PONCET (1844-1913), engraver/medallist from Lyon, the Republic, bust in profile to the left, wearing crown and vine leaf and bunch of grapes, ears of wheat in the headdress. - Reverse: Clermont Fd shield surmounted by a castle standing on a shield flanked by branches of oak and laurel leaves. Mention of silver and horn hallmark.
