Obverse: "ville de Douai"; "gloire aux vainqueurs 1302", crowned city coat-of-arms on a shield below 2 sprays of leaves - Reverse: society name, center for award and wreath of laurel leaves. Silver-plated copper - 40 mm - 33.8 grams. ( * ) - Social society founded in 1879; helped schools to build up their libraries and helped children in difficulty on the recommendation of their teachers; offered all school-leaving certificate winners a trip to the seaside. 1302: the date refers to the reconquest of the towns of Lille, Douai and Tournai by the County of Flanders during the eponymous battle of July 11, when the supporters of the King of France were massacred (Battle of the Golden Spurs).
