FRANCE - SAGEM EXPERIMENTAL STAMPS. - Lot 33
FRANCE - SAGEM EXPERIMENTAL STAMPS. - CARNETS SAGEM FICTIFS: sheet, SUITE DE 5 CARNETS DE DIX TIMBRES AUTOCOLLANTS, printed with red and pink triangles - with sheet numbering (1 of 5) and COIN DATE 6 JANVIER 1995 (one sheet of 5) - on the reverse: text "la Poste 10 timbres autocollants à validité permanente" (Yvert TF 1 C d ) - x 5 note: Sagem booklets, named after the manufacturer of automatic stamp dispensers, are halfway between booklets and wheels, as they are issued in rolls of 500 booklets, which are cut by the machine as they are sold. These booklets were tested on the TD 6-7 press in order to solve the problem of weeding, an operation consisting of peeling off part of the self-adhesive backing to leave only the stamp and its margin. These test books of ten vignettes were then used to adjust SAGEM dispensers - in the Paris region - by on-site maintenance technicians (i.e. post offices).
