(SILVER) - FRANCE - FEODALITÉ - VICOMTÉ de LIMOGES - JEAN II - Lot 546
(SILVER) - FRANCE - FEODALITÉ - VICOMTÉ de LIMOGES - JEAN III de BRETAGNE et JEANNE de SAVOIE (1329-1338) - DENIER de BILLON NOIR (Boudot 406) - VG.
Obverse: +IMA DUCIT BRIT, quartered field of Bretagne-Dreux.
Reverse: +VIC LEMOVICEN, cross cantoned with a Savoy crosslet in the 2nd canton, words separated by trilobes.
Boudot note: the coins of the Viscounts of the House of Brittany went from weakening to weakening, from silver to almost pure copper. What's more, these coins are always very poorly struck. Under the Treaty of Bretigny (1360), Limoges was surrendered to the King of England, who opened a mint there.
