MARINE NATIONALE - ABBEVILLE (somme). MONUMENT TO THE GLORY OF ADMIRAL COURBET. Large silver bronze medal 60 mm, view of the Monument in front of the sea, ship in background. Inscriptions around the rim, architect's name and assistants in exergue - Engraver H. Dubois. Reverse: "CE MONUMENT ERIGE A ABBEVILLE AIDE D'UNE SOUSCRIPTION NATIONALE A ETE INAUGURE LE 17 AOUT 1890", Medal attributed to LE MOINE CAPITAINE DE FREGATE. Note: monument damaged by WWI bombardments, Repaired, but not restored, and moved since then, it still exists, but without its bronze cannons, seized in 1943 by the occupying Germans for metal remelting.
