Marcelin Berthelot (1827-1907): Chemist, physiochemist, biologist, epistemologist, Minister of Public Instruction, French Academician. Studied at the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Pharmacy; professor at the Ecole Supérieure de Pharmacie.
Historian of Chemistry, supervised the manufacture of cannons and explosives during the Paris Commune in 1870 - 1,200 patents registered between 1850 and 1907, notably in the field of PHARMACOLOGY - Donated his patents to the French state and to the world, so that they could serve the greatest number of people. His ashes were transferred to the Panthéon; his wife, his closest collaborator, rests with him: she was thus the 1st woman to enter the Panthéon.
