WORLD WAR II - US Army THE V-MAIL MAILER - Official new form from the "Post office department - Permit n°1". Note: To save weight and speed, the US Army introduced the V-MAIL (for VICTORY) process in 1942 - The soldier writes his letter on the special form - it is photographed on a reel of 16 mm film - The reel containing 1,800 letters is flown to the USA, where a print of each letter is made on photo paper, slipped into an envelope and sent to the recipient family.
