TJAMPATJINPA RONNIE (PINTUPI). BORN IN 1943. - Lot 262
TJAMPATJINPA RONNIE (PINTUPI). BORN IN 1943.
LE REVE DU FEU DU BUSH / BUSH FIRE DREAMING, 2013.
Ronnie was born in Tjiturrunya west of Kintore in Western Australia. Ronnie was initiated at Winparku, near Lake Mackay in the northern territories. His family migrated first to Haasts Bluff where he tended cattle and then to Papunya. He started painting in 1971 with the founding members of the Central Desert Painters acrylic painting movement. He moved with his family to Walungurru in the early 1980s. He painted mainly for the Papunya Tula community, making mainly Tingari themed paintings using mainly basic colours. His style evolved at the end of the 80's to be very synectic and use more vivid colors. He is the last great painter of the first generation to paint. He is famous for his Tingari, the water dreaming, the Bushfire dreaming. Concerning this representation of the bushfire dreaming he can approach it in different ways with either the fire broken down into different lines of colours, or by mixing it with the Tingari dreaming.
