Rare wooden table from the Trobiand Islands in the South Pac - Lot 148
Rare wooden table from the Trobiand Islands in the South Pacific. It is rare to present a table of this type with 3 levels and 9 statuettes serving as support (3 per tray). The whole is in quite good condition for the age of the piece. There are cracks on the top tray and on the second tray from the bottom of the table. The third tray from the bottom is broken behind the 3 supports. There are no missing parts. The table can be restored to its original state and especially to consolidate it. It is finely carved with many traces of white ochre. Table made in the first half of the 20th century. Provenance : former collection of Rob Croll (Australia), collection priée Paris region.
